The ski resort of Zermatt is located at 1620 metres within the Pennine Alps. The village marks the end of a narrow valley and is bounded by three integrated ski areas. The famous and spectacular Matterhorn is just one of 38 peaks in the area above 4000 metres. This is one of the world's best winter resorts, with fantastic skiing and snowboarding. There are over 300 km of ski runs with skiing for all abilities.
Skiing in Zermatt offers easy access to the slopes is provided by an extensive network of cableways, mountain railways and ski lifts. The only transportation allowed is by horse drawn sleighs or electric taxis. The ski resort of Zermatt has a wind protected southern location and one of the longest skiing seasons in the Alps.
The village is located directly at the base of the lists and consists of one main street called the Bahnhofstrasse. Here and on the side streets, you will find dozens of restaurants, bars and clubs. The apres ski scene is one of the most famous aspects of the entire resort.
