Resort overview |
 |
Skiing in the Gardena valley offers something for everyone. The valley has three main villages. The first and largest is Ortisei. The ski resort of Ortisei has a pedestrianised centre and a lively après ski scene. The second is Santa Cristina, the smallest village and the third is Selva Gardena. The ski resort of Selva Gardena is closer to the slopes and has the best après ski. The village is located at an altitude of 1563 m and has access to skiing in all directions. The village has real mountain charm and a strong cultural heritage. The village is filled with traditional woodcarvings as well as snow and ice carvings. There is a shuttle service connecting all three villages. Skiing in the Val Gardena provides a unique experience with its mix of Tyrolean tradition and Italian culture.
The Sella Ronda is a circular network of lifts and pistes taking you around the Gruppo Sella. It is one of the world's leading ski circuits. The ski course circles the spectacular Sella Massif and is easily skied in one day. It offers 26 kms of downhill trails and is covered on the Dolomiti Superski Pass. The Gruppo Sella is a huge limestone massif with villages around it. The biggest of these is Selva in Val Gardena. As well as this main circuit, there are major lift systems leading off it at four main points. The scenery in the Dolomites is fantastic.
A new Val Gardena Ronda Express funicular is the last link that completes the Val Gardena ski tour. The link will connect the Sochers/Ciampinoi ski area with the Col Raiser/Seceda area thus linking them to all the other ski areas in the Val Gardena. This new express will be a part of the Dolomiti Superski area.
