The resort

The ski resort of Lech has established itself as one of the world’s greatest ski resorts and is one of the snowy playgrounds of Europe’s rich and famous. It was one of the earliest Alpine ski villages and although a cosmopolitan resort today, Lech has managed to maintain its character and traditional Alpine atmosphere whilst offering a sophisticated nightlife, fewer lift queues and a more balanced mixture of gentle and challenging runs.

Skiing and boarding

Skiing in Lech offers skiing for all levels. The ski area is extensive – the Arlberg ski pass covers a total of 83 lifts including the ski areas of Lech, St Anton, Zurs, Stuben and St Christoph. Beginners will find plenty of blues close to the resort whilst intermediates will love the contrasts of tree-lined runs down by the resort and challenging reds at the top. The advanced skier will enjoy the many black runs and miles of excellent off-piste. Snowboarders will love the world-class board park and the variety of runs to suit all abilities.

Due to their north-facing slopes and position at the end of the valley, Lech and Zurs offer uncrowded slopes and reliable snow. The best skiing for beginners is in St Christoph or Rendl. There are two ski schools in operation, run under the same umbrella, both employing hundreds of instructors and guides with a solid reputation for excellent tuition and service.

The Arlberg ski area also includes the ski resorts of Lech, Zurs and the village of St Christoph and St Jakob as well as St Anton. The combined Arlberg ski area offers hundreds of miles of groomed pistes for skiers and snowboarders. The most prominent point in St Anton is the Valluga summit from which runs one of the best and longest intermediate ski slopes in Europe, taking skiers all the way down to the valley floor.

Apres ski

Once the ski slopes close Lech`s main street turns into one long après-ski bar, with pavement cafes running in to one another offering entertainment and music to suit all tastes. The village hosts a post-skiing tea dance and has four late night discotheques.
A unique evening involves a cable car ride, with Champagne, to the highest Casino in the Alps. Children will love the floodlit sledging run from Oberlech to town as well as the ice-skating and indoor sports centre.
