The resort

Small family friendly village within the heart of the 3 Valleys

Part of the world renowned 3 Valleys, the ski resort of La Tania is a small, family friendly resort with a compact purpose built centre. Having been built relatively recently for the 1996 Albertville Olympics, the buildings are mainly wooden clad and with quick and easy access to the skiing of both Courchevel and Meribel.  La Tania is a popular resort. Many of the chalets are situated in a ski in ski out location above the resort in the trees, and the selection of bars, restaurants and shops is small, but practical.

The skiing and boarding

Beyond the good local pistes of La Tania, the slopes give way to the whole of the 3 Valleys. Here you have terrain to suit every level - a ski area that is unrivalled in its size and quality. Taking the gondola from the resort followed by a quad chairlift brings you out to the Col de la Loze which is an ideal starting point for both Meribel or Courchevel. There are several board parks within the 3 Valleys, all with easy access from La Tania.

The apres ski

The Ski Lodge has long been the most popular bar in the resort with good pub food, frequent live bands and a lively atmosphere. The Telemark, and the Taiga are both good alternative venues and the Hotel Montana bar is also popular for a quiet drink. The Ferme de la Tania is a good popular Savoyarde restaurant and the Chanterelles is another popular restaurant for pizzas and crepes. Alternative entertainment is limited in La Tania however there is a fitness club and pool in the Hotel Montana and snow-shoeing, paragliding and dog-sledding are all possibilities.

The ski resort of La Tania is the newest resort in the vast Three Valleys ski area. The ski resort of La Tania was initially developed in time for the 1992 Albertville Winter Olympics, but has expanded significantly in the past decade. Located at an altitude of 1350m, La Tania is close to the ski resort of Courchevel.

The village centre is traffic free and has a real village atmosphere. There's a real community feeling in La Tania and it's still small enough for everyone to know everyone. Often called a small friendly resort it is worth knowing that there is plenty for everyone to do. The village is served by a 12 person Gondola which links to high speed quad chair from where you can ski down to either the Courchevel or Meribel ski areas. There is a series of 2 drag lifts that can also take you from the village to the Courchevel side of the mountain. The ski resort of La Tania also has a free beginners poma which runs throughout the season.

Skiing in La Tania offers something for all levels of skier. Covered on a Courchevel Valley lift pass, you can access the rest of the valley easily from La Tania, and within 2 lifts you can ski right down into Méribel, and through to Val Thorens. The La Tania area itself features quieter intermediate pistes, with some of the best-kept powder snow in the Alps. There are some wonderful runs back into resort.

A free ski bus runs about every hour to the ski resort of Courchevel, stopping at 1550, 1650 and finally 1850. The journey to Courchevel 1850 only takes 30 minutes. The ski resort of Meribel is only 5 minutes drive away.

Après ski in La Tania has something to please everyone. There are four reasonably priced restaurants including Pub Le Ski Lodge and La Taiga, which are described as welcoming and serve tasty, relatively inexpensive food. The restaurant in Hotel Montana serves local and international dishes.  The resort boasts a handful of bars with a relaxed atmosphere, headed by Pub Le Ski Lodge, which has live music on Tuesday nights. The resort has a heated outdoor swimming pool and fitness centre as well as a cinema. Snowshoeing and skidooing is also available.
