The resort

The ski resort of Kitzbuhel was one of the first international resorts and still entices visitors from all over the world. Kitzbuhel is situated in a broad valley, surrounded by three major ski areas.  The town centre is medieval with cobbled streets and has remained unspoilt. Kitzbuhel is especially picturesque and you will often hear the jingle of bells as horse-drawn sleighs are pulled through its cobbled, traffic-free town centre. This lively and sophisticated resort has something for everyone, from young to old and from beginner to expert.

The skiing and boarding

The Kitzbuhel ski area is large, with 145km of pistes to suit all level of skier. It is possible to buy a pass that allows you to ski in other local resorts thus giving you over 600km of pistes to ski. The Kitzbüheler Alpen ski pass provides access to neighbouring resorts such as Alpbach and Ski Welt. more>>

Apres ski

The ski resort of Kitzbuhel is one of the most cosmopolitan ski towns in Austria, and it offers lively, world-class nightlife to suit all tastes. What you do in Kitzbühel after skiing is as important as the skiing. more>>

Overview

Visitors to Kitzbuhel often feel compelled to walk the narrow cobbled streets in ski boots savouring the gabled houses with their frescos, archways and colour-washed facades, as the bells of the Liebfrauenkirche and the nearby 14th Century St. Andreas parish church ring out. Kitzbühel is especially picturesque with snow on the ground as hoards of wealthy guests promenade, many of the women wrapped in huge furs.

The town is particularly busy in the period between Christmas and the staging of the celebrated Hahnenkamm races. The Hahnenkamm, the most treacherous and famous of all of the downhill ski races, and the publicity has made the ski resort of Kitzbuhel one of the world's most famous ski resorts.

Non-skiers on a ski holiday in Kitzbuhel can enjoy well-prepared walking paths or join an excursion to the historic cities of Salzburg or Innsbruck. Dating back to the 14th century, Kitzbühel's painted medieval houses, stylish shops, concealed passageways and charming cafés are fascinating to explore. Ski holidays in Kitzbühel offer an excellent choice of après ski and nightlife.
