Overview |
 |
Visitors to Kitzbuhel often feel compelled to walk the narrow cobbled streets in ski boots savouring the gabled houses with their frescos, archways and colour-washed facades, as the bells of the Liebfrauenkirche and the nearby 14th Century St. Andreas parish church ring out. Kitzbühel is especially picturesque with snow on the ground as hoards of wealthy guests promenade, many of the women wrapped in huge furs.
The town is particularly busy in the period between Christmas and the staging of the celebrated Hahnenkamm races. The Hahnenkamm, the most treacherous and famous of all of the downhill ski races, and the publicity has made the ski resort of Kitzbuhel one of the world's most famous ski resorts.
Non-skiers on a ski holiday in Kitzbuhel can enjoy well-prepared walking paths or join an excursion to the historic cities of Salzburg or Innsbruck. Dating back to the 14th century, Kitzbühel's painted medieval houses, stylish shops, concealed passageways and charming cafés are fascinating to explore. Ski holidays in Kitzbühel offer an excellent choice of après ski and nightlife.
