Resort overview |
 |
The ski resort of Flims is located in the south east part of Switzerland across the valley from the ski resort of Arosa. This is an unfamiliar part of Switzerland to most British skiers, and deserves wider recognition. It is a small traditional village that has two parts, Dorf and Waldhaus. Dorf is the main village and lift base, whilst Waldhaus is the leafy suburb.
The ski lifts start from the village centre and most accommodation is spread throughout the village. The ski resort of Flims is situated at 1100m above sea level and has a southerly facing location. 70 percent of the ski runs at above 2000m and there are tree-lined pistes too. The resort is well known for its sunny, mild climate and offers fantastic skiing for all levels. This area still retains an old world atmosphere of unhurried life, quaint inns, varied restaurants and charming boutiques. Since the 1880s, Flims has been a destination for spa's and wellness centres, this tradition continues today. Flims is divided into two; Flims Dorf beside the cable car station, ideal for those wanting a livelier nightlife and Flims Waldhaus, which is quieter and set on, beautiful wooded hillside. The two areas are connected by bus.
