The skiing and boarding |
 |
The ski resort of Fernie has a reputation for its steep and deep terrain, and with bowl after bowl of great skiing, this reputation is justified. There are some back country routes and as well as some great Cat skiing to be found - the expert is well catered for. The more advanced intermediate will enjoy Fernie, however the more timid intermediate will find few cruising runs and many blues would qualify as blacks elsewhere. The Beginner has some excellent slopes on which to learn with a moving carpet and drag lift and plenty of easy runs on the lower part of the mountain on which to progress. There is plenty of great terrain for avid free ride boarders, and along with the two terrain parks there is plenty of scope.

The Park Place Lodge Pub and Eldorado Lounge are also popular places to go of an evening. There is a good array of resturants to choose from in the evenings and for those looking for dinner with a difference, the Bears Den at the top of the Elk chair does a BBQ and torchlight descent twice a week.
