Rusutsu Ski Resort, Japan
An exotic skiing destination off the beaten track with legendary snowfall
Massive quantities of snow fall regularly in all three Hokkaido resorts, though Rusutsu lies further inland where temperatures are usually a little colder and the snow quality is often finer. Don't worry about snow shortages due to the low altitude, as even on Hokkaido's beaches there is often more than a metre of snow during the winter months. Combine phenomenal snow conditions with high hotel standards, renowned Japanese efficiency, service, excellent lift and transport systems, and the whole experience becomes worth the long flight.

About the Skiing and Boarding in Rusutsu
Après Ski in Rusutsu
As Rusutsu resort is one huge hotel complex, it doesn't share the same Après ski atmosphere as it European cousins. However, there are still plenty of things to keep you entertained after you come in from the slopes.
A traditional onsen bath is a popular past time all over Hokkaido, it is very relaxing and the dense mineral water is good for the skin (men and women shower and bathe separately in the communal volcanic pools, then may meet in a thermal pool). There are traditional tea ceremonies in the hotel, in which you can try great quality tea, prepared in a religiously precise way to attain the best aroma. For sports events check out the bar named after the one sport you're unlikely to see in Japan, Cricket. The Kakashi Tavern has a relaxed atmosphere and the beer hall Lamp House is also a good place to mellow out. There are also half a dozen bars and nightspots in the hotel with local beers at good prices.
There are 12 restaurants located within the large complex; however the resort does manage to offer a great range of cuisine from all corners of the world allowing guests to have a lot of choice each night. 'Sekkatei' serves traditional food from the local Hokkaido region in the Japanese style while 'Kazahana' also specialises in using fresh and natural ingredients that the Hokkaido region is known for. There is also a Chinese restaurant called 'Kanten' while other choices including the Italian 'Costa Terrazza', 'Bon Appetit' or the French fared 'Belle Vue' with its art deco style.
