The best resorts for Family Ski Holidays

Putting research into the resort that is right for you is the best way to ensure that every member of the family has the best holiday on the slopes as possible. Are the adults experienced skiers looking for the thrill of black runs and off-piste skiing, with a friendly and experienced ski school for the little ones? Or would a resort that’s well known for providing beginners with the best introduction to ski be more suitable for the whole family? Tell our Holiday Heroes exactly what you’re looking for, and we will do our best to find you exactly that.

Resorts with the best accommodation for families

At Skitracer we love sending families off on a magical ski holiday, and because we want you to have the best time possible, we’ve picked out some of the resorts that provide a real mix of accommodation types for all types of families.

The French resort of Avoriaz is great for families because it’s known for it’s excellent value for money, high altitude and modern architecture and amenities. The newly-built indoor swimming pool and water park is a fantastic attraction for families, and a large re-investment to the area means that apartments, chalets and hotels in the area boast some of the best family accommodation around.

Another French resort, Les Deux Alpes has a plentiful supply of cheaper apartments and hotels that provide all the necessary facilities and services that families may be interested in, including nannies, childcare and spas. The resort also boasts excellent nursery slopes for beginners and children, as well as exciting runs for intermediates.

If you are looking for a slightly different atmosphere, then Courmayeur in Italy is also a great option for families looking to have an impressive holiday. Within easy reach of Geneva and Turin, the resort boasts a lovely village charm and impressive accommodation options for families, including chalets and hotels.

Resorts with Great Beginner Slopes

Everyone has to start somewhere and there are some resorts with perfect  confidence building  pistes to  practice those parallel  turns.  La Plagne,  Alpe d'Huez,  Obergurgl,  Lech and  La Rosiere are amongst our favourites.

Resorts with great Ski Schools

There is no better holiday than being with the family and all learning new skills in the great outdoors. The ski school option will allow complete beginners to make much faster progress, and is great fun! Our Holiday Heroes also have plenty of accommodation options that are near the ski school meeting point to make your holiday even easier.

La Plagne, Lech, and La Rosiere have fantastic ski schools.

Ski resorts with short transfers

Travelling with little ones can be challenging! A short transfer means getting settled much quicker into your accommodation, and ensuring the kids don’t get bored or hungry on the journey.

The Alps offer some of the best transfer distances, meaning that you can enjoy more of your precious holiday time. Val d’Isere and Tignes are becoming increasingly popular for families due to the easy accessibility from the overnight Eurostar and short transfers from train stations such as Bourg St Maurice. Geneva airport is a popular choice for skiers, due to the wide range of choices of travel times. The popular resorts of Avoriaz, Les Gets and Morzine can be reached from Geneva in just over an hour.
