About the Skiing and Boarding in Val Thorens

Part of the fabulous Trois Vallées, boasting an unrivalled amount of skiing and boarding (600km), the ski resort of Val Thorens is a magnificent ski area suitable for all levels of skier.  Beginners can use the free lifts to master turns whilst intermediates progress to the slopes above St. Martin de Belleville. More challenging runs are easily and quickly accessible via the Funitel gondola, which whisks over 3000 skiers and boarders per hour up to the Pêclet glacier. Even more adventurous runs await you via the cable car, which runs to the Cîme de Caron at 3200 metres. The facilities for free-stylers are excellent across the whole Trois Valleés ski area.

Val Thorens offers over 45 bars, restaurants and nightclubs, from cosy local eateries to easy going bars and clubs open to the early hours. 'The Red Fox' is popular at close of play, being a lively karaoke bar, while the 'Saloon' and 'Viking Pub' have a similar atmosphere. The well known 'Frog and Roastbeef' has been tastefully renovated after a change of hands in 2008, and the new chef has improved the menu and quality of food. 'The Malaysia Cellar Bar' is highly spoken of thanks to its good live music and draws large crowds after eleven. For a quieter night, head to 'O'Connells' or the cosy 'Rhum Box Café'.

There are many exciting activities to enjoy in Val Thorens. Microlight flying, ice climbing, paragliding, snowmobiling are all on offer.  The highest toboggan run in Europe, dropping 700m on its 45 minute, 6km decent is excellent fun and quite an experience.  If you're looking for a rush and an experience to never forget, the 'Val Thorens Ice Driving School' offers courses in vehicles ranging from studded tyre go-carts and quads, to a full world rally spec Mitsubishi Evo 6. The newly revamped 'Aquaclub' has an excellent gym and fitness centre, pool with saunas and jacuzzis, and sports club with facilities for tennis, volleyball, football, squash, ping pong, badminton, roller skating, and hockey.
