Obergurgl & Hochgurgl Ski Resorts, Austria
The resort where exciting skiing meets a relaxed and traditional Austrian village
Situated in the spectacular Ötz Valley, Obergurgl is Austria's highest resort; it has an excellent snow record and a very long lasting ski season.
As one of our leading ski areas, this compact village is still small enough to meet up with friends on the slopes, at the popular 'Nederhütte' mountain hut or back down in the village for a nice beer and a view of the surrounding Austrian scenery.
The nursery slopes are gentle and the whole ski area has extensive choice for skiers and boarders who like spacious blue and red runs. Obergurgl-Hochgurgl has 4'230 guest beds and the majority of its visitors come from Germany, Great Britain, Austria and the Benelux Countries.
Obergurgl's resort centre has little traffic and numerous shops, cafés, restaurants and bars, many of which have a traditional and charming atmosphere, providing plenty to see and do at the end of a day's skiing.
This resort attracts a loyal following of beginners, intermediates and families every winter thanks to snow sure slopes, great quality accommodation and a relaxed resort atmosphere.

About the Skiing and Boarding in Obergurgl
The village of Obergurgl is situated very high on the mountain, at 1930m it offers great snow conditions throughout the season and good access to the ski area. There are sixteen beginner slopes and some longer more challenging runs making it a great spot for intermediates looking for a bit of variety and beginners taking to the slopes for the first time. Experts will still find challenging skiing in conquering the steep Hohe Mut ski run in Obergurgl and in the challenging mogul piste down from Top-Wurmkogl II in Hochgurgl.

Apres Ski in Obergurgl
Obergurgl tends to be more animated and lively in the late afternoon/early evening with things quieting down in the early hours of the morning.
Nederhütte at Gaisberg is a great stop off, loosen your boots and enjoy a beer as the lifts close, (be sure to arrive early if bad conditions force you inside.) With live music nearly 7 days a week and people often dancing on the tables it is certainly a lively showdown of post ski action.
Bars at the base of the Rosskar and Gaisberg lifts are also popular at the end of the ski day, Hexenkuchl, Pic-Nic, the Jenewein and the 'excellent' Wiesental with its 'popular sun terrace' are all well worth a visit. Later on Josl's Keller has a western-style saloon on the ground floor and a posh wine bar upstairs. Krumpn's Stadl barn is the liveliest place in town with a good DJ most nights.
The Jenewein and Edelweiss und Gurgl hotels have atmospheric bars which prove to be quite popular with all party goers due to their lively atmosphere and 'interesting' choices of music.
Hochgurgl is usually very quiet at in the evenings but you will still find live music at Toni's Almhütte bar in the Sporthotel Olympia.
