About the Skiing and Boarding in Meribel

Skiing in Meribel offers something for everyone. With an unrivalled amount of skiing and boarding (600km), the Trois Vallées is a magnificent ski area. The Méribel Valley is in the middle of the three valleys making it the ideal base for exploring the whole ski area From the main lift station you can climb either side of the valley by gondola and find yourself either at Saulire admiring the view down to Courchevel, or at La Tougnete with its access to Val Thorens and Les Menuires.

For the advanced skier the area’s blacks and off-piste will need little introduction, but do try the black from the top of the Roc de Tougne and the pistes around La Caron which will test any experienced skier.
Take some runs down the through attractive woods leading to Méribel Village from where you can catch a chairlift back to the wide open runs of the Altiport area.
The facilities for snowboarders are excellent across the whole Trois Valleés ski area. Two terrain parks can be found in the Meribel area, the Moon park and the Mottaret Park and often a mini Boardercross run, there is certainly enough for beginners to get some air time and more than enough to test the more advanced rider. Snow making has dramatically increased in recent years to ensure a good ski right back to your accommodation in all conditions.

Après Ski in Meribel

Le Rond Pont aka The Ronny, above Méribel Centre at the Rond Point des Pistes is a must-visit venue. It has a 4-5pm happy hour features live bands/music and a really positive atmosphere. It tends to get lively right from the end of the skiing day and runs pretty late into the night.

Le Poste is one of the smartest bars in town, it was revamped a few years ago and has a good cocktail menu and a high profile atmosphere.
Jacks Bar and more intimate Evolution down in the valley, at the lower end of Méribel centre, near the Chaudanne lift nexus, is another key venue and has a fabulous bar feel
Good Places to start or warm up with food  Head to La Taverne in Méribel Centre for a well deserved “Tav Burger” or the Doron Pub, which also has a 4-7pm happy hour and serves good snacks and food.

Dicks Tea Bar – The Venue for the serious party goer. You don't want to be queuing out in the cold so be sure to get there early. Doors open at 9pm and there's a happy hour going till 11.30pm. Is now under new management as of  2010-11 season, If you don't fancy Dick's, but want to dance, head to Le Loft, by the ice rink and bowling alley in Méribel Centre, which is favoured by the French and the Locals.

The Olympic Centre hosts top-level ice hockey matches and has a heated swimming pool, climbing wall and bowling alley. New to the Centre in 2009 will be a gym, saunas, Jacuzzis, massage and relaxation rooms. There are countless alpine activities to partake in within the Meribel area, including paragliding, ice skating, climbing, karting, snowmobiling, and helicopter trips.

Up at Mottaret, check out Le Rastro and Zig Zag. The Tuesday rock parties at Le Rastro are famous for going off. Then there's Downtown, which has been refurbished in recent years and The Annexe which has a good modern feel.  Quiet drink? Then try the Piano Bar at  the Mont Vallont Hotel in Mottaret, or the Barometer in Méribel Centre which is quite expensive but does serve the famous “Mutzig
