Meribel Ski Resort, France

The picturesque heart of the Three Valleys
Nestled in the middle of the Trois Vallées, Méribel retains its traditional charm with attractive wooden chalet-style buildings. With plenty of shops, bars and restaurants, Meribel is one of the liveliest ski resorts in the Three Valleys. Mottaret ski resort (approximately 3km above Méribel Centre) is smaller and purpose-built with excellent access to the slopes. Down the hill from Méribel Centre is the tiny village of Nantgerel and further on to Méribel Village, the ‘original’ village. Both are linked into the lift system of the Trois Vallées.

About the Skiing and Boarding in Meribel

Skiing in Meribel offers something for everyone. With an unrivalled amount of skiing and boarding (600km), the Trois Vallées is a magnificent ski area.  From the main lift station you can climb either side of the valley by gondola and find yourself either at Saulire admiring the view down to Courchevel, or at La Tougnete with its access to Val Thorens and Les Menuires. For the advanced skier,  the area’s blacks and off-piste will need little introduction, but do try the black from the top of the Roc de Tougne and the pistes around La Caron which will test you to the full. Runs through attractive woods lead to Méribel Village from where a chairlift returns you to the Altiport area. The facilities for snowboarders are excellent across the whole Trois Valleés ski area

Après Ski in Meribel

Meribel has a rocking après ski reputation, and with good reason! For live music and infamous toffee vodka, head to 'Rond Point' at the close of play - it's packed from 4pm. The famous Meribel 'Dick's Tea Bar' and the 'Taverne' both get packed after 11pm and the party goes on until the early hours.  Dicks is a usual venue for any UK dance music artist on tour in the Alps and has attracted the likes of Pendulum. 'Rastro' is a regular favourite and gets lively as DJs take to the stage with different styles of music on different nights. 'The Pub' is another musically diverse option often with live bands, also featuring films and pool.  'Scotts' has late dancing.  If you fancy a quieter place to enjoy the night, try 'Poste' for some French culture, or relax in 'Barometer's' comfortable leather seats and chilled atmosphere. The British-run 'Plein Soleil' bar/restaurant in Mottaret is a good place to eat and other good restaurants include the friendly 'Le Refuge' and the more expensive 'Chez Kiki.'
The Olympic Centre hosts top-level ice hockey matches and has a swimming pool, climbing wall and bowling alley. New to the Centre in 2009 will be a gym, saunas, Jacuzzis, massage and relaxation rooms. There are countless alpine activities to partake in within the Meribel area, including paragliding, ice skating, climbing, karting, snowmobiling, and helicopter trips.
