Mayrhofen Accommodation

Like most Austrian ski resorts, Mayrhofen has less catered chalets and more hotels offering either bed and breakfast or half board.

Mayrhofen offers quite a broad range of accommodation in terms of standards.  There are luxury hotels which can be costly, but there are also basic cheap hotels available.

Mayrhofen is serviced by an excellent bus service, so most accommodation is either a short walk or bus journey from the main lifts.

Après Ski in Mayrhofen

Mayrhofen is the largest town in the Ziller Valley, a very popular place for Germans and Austrians to holiday, therefore it gets busy! There is great après ski everywhere in the Valley, with bars right on the piste and clubs open from 10pm to 4 am; Mayrhofen welcomes you to party hard, Austrian style!

At the top of the Penken gondola (which takes you to and from the main ski area) is where the Après starts. Two umbrella bars called the 'Schirm' & 'Pilz', serve shots and test tubes of assorted Schnapps- usually a lucky dip determines which flavour you get.  The 'Eis Bar' is next on the bar crawl list, right at the bottom of the Penken gondola, this Dutch bar blears music of varying styles through a mammoth system, making it packed in the early evening. They also claim to serve more Grolsh beer than any other bar in Europe! The next favourite is 'Nikki's Schirmbar', just across the river. Again, it is very loud and Schnapps abundant with shots served in edible wafer shot-glasses for around €1. If you are looking for taste of home, the 'Scotland Yard' is a British-style pub with an extensive selection of English and Austrian on-tap beers. There are 3 clubs in Mayrhofen. 'Schüssl' and 'Apropos' are both popular with seasonaires and locals alike as they have a good mix of music, while the 'Speak Easy Arena' is massive with a 2500 capacity and frequent live bands or renowned DJs that attract big name UK dance artists when on tour in the Alps. If you are used to skiing in the '3 Valleys' or 'Espace Killy' you will notice how cheap Zillertal is in comparison.

A good place for lunch on the mountain is 'the Pyramid (Schneekar)' which serves fresh pasta and wine of a very good standard as well as homemade 'jagertee'.
