Les Deux Alpes Accommodation
With a good even mix of catered and self catered accommodation, Les Deux Alpes is a great resort to look at if you want some cheap skiing. All accommodation is either a short walk or short bus ride from the ski lifts and the town is serviced well by the local bus service.
Although the accommodation in Les Deux Alpes is not of the same high standard as other resorts such as Meribel or Val d’isere, the standard of skiing there more than makes up for it.
This is a great resort if your looking for cheap accommodation for families or large groups.
About the Skiing and Boarding in Les Deux Alpes
Skiing in Les Deux Alpes offers something for all levels of skier. Beginners will quickly progress from the nursery slopes in the centre of town to the gentle slopes on the glacier itself. On the Pied Moutet side of the mountain there are plenty of wide, intermediate pistes. The Super Diable run challenges the best skiers and boarders and the Serre Palas bumps are used for international competitions. The resort is ideal for snowboarders, with one of the best snowboard parks in Europe.
Après Ski in Les Deux Alpes
The ski resort of Les Deux Alpes offers an abundance of après-ski life in its bustling and lively town centre. There are plenty of shops, bars, restaurants and nightclubs plus a cinema, bowling alley and sports facilities spread across the long road through the town, however there is a huge choice of bars. Popular British favourites are 'The Secret' (below the Hotel Cret) with good prices and a lively atmosphere, 'Smithy's', which has regular events and live music, and 'Smokey Joe’s,' serving tasty Tex-Mex food. While 'SantaFee' and the 'Brazilian' are popular with French tourists, most of the 32 bars around town have a mix of patrons, truly offering something for everyone. 'Bar Rhumerie' in the centre of town is a good place for a quiet drink early on with its eclectic range of Rums from all over the world. There are a few themed bars dotted around the town certainly worth taking a look, but if you are interested in staying more ‘on the beaten track’ there plenty of generic bars as well. For late night dancing, 'L'Avalanche' and 'La Brazilien' play typical euro-club cheese while 'La Casa' is fashionable with French and Italian crowds. 'L'Opera' in Le Village is a really great club, with 3 floors, countless guest DJs of different styles (some UK artists have made appearances here) and a live music room.
The town centre has a heated outdoor pool and ice-rink with free entrance using a six—day (or longer) ski pass. Other activities available in Les Deux Alpes are snowshoeing, ice climbing, hang-gliding, helicopter trips and skidooing.
