From the high altitude skiing in the far North of the country consisting of the largest ski area in the world 'The super Dolimiti' to the pictureque Italian Alps and the Milky way which hosted the 06/07 winter Olympics. The Italians offer their laid back aproach to skiing in most resorts which is very easy to get caught up in! The beautiful ski resort of Selva is located in the Dolomite Mountains at an altitude of 1,563 m above sea level. The location is magnificent, at the foot of the majestic Sella Massif and connected to the Sella Ronda. The ski resort of Selva has one of the largest interconnected lift systems in the world, being part of the Dolomiti Superski, an area that has over 450 lifts and 1220 kms of piste with some of the best snowmaking facilities in the world. Located below Mont Blanc on the Italian side of the mountain, in the Aosta Valley, the atmospheric ski resort of Courmayeur is full of character. The mountain scenery around the ski resort of Courmayeur is spectacular with views towards Mont Blanc, Western Europe’s highest mountain. Sauze D'oulx, once known as the Ibiza of the Alps has shed its party title but has maintained it great atmosphere. Only one hour from Turin Airport and with 327 Km of piste in the Milky way its a resort that many are unaware of. The cobbels Old town contrasts against the livley bars of the newer town. The lift system has been inprove over recent years while the Olympics were held here in 2006. The great skiing boasts everything from short tree runs to huge olympic down hills. |
