Engelberg
Engelberg the 'premier' ski resort in central Switzerland is located a short transfer from Zurich and is home to the impressive 'crest of a wave' summit of Titlis mountain (3239m). The centre of Engelberg is more of a town than a village meaning most skiers get the free shuttle bus to the lifts. The traffic free cobbled street in the centre has a wide range of shops and restaurants. The town's Benedictine monastery dominates the view of the village from the lifts.

Engelberg Accommodation
Engelberg's accommodation is mainly made up of hotels, bed and breakfasts and apartments. Most of the hotels are 3 star although there are a few 4 star properties with spas. About the Skiing and Boarding in Engelberg
The main ski area of Titlis is accessed by three successive lifts taking skiers to 3030m (above the Glacier). Titlis is home to one of the biggest verticals in the alpes and a mecca for advanced and off piste skiers and boarders alike. The second ski area, Brunni, is much smaller and largely made up of intermediate slopes. There is also a small nursery slope area on this side of the valley. Snowboards need to be aware that the nursery area is served by drag lifts and there are some flat starts to the runs which are better for intermediate/advanced boarders.
Apres Ski
There are a few popular apres spots to choose from in Engelberg with the Spindle nightclub, Eden Bar and big parties at the Yucatan Tex Mex restaurant. If you fancy something different you'll find Europe's highest bar on the Titlis at 3020m. In the day time the 12th Century Monastery and cheese- making shop are popular tourist attractions. There are also walks around the town/valley and you can build your own Iglu (under supervision)!
