Bansko Ski Resort, Bulgaria

A picturesque town at the base of Bulgaria's best mountain
Bansko is the gateway to the Pirin mountain region and is certainly Bulgaria’s most up and coming ski resort. It offers an irresistible combination of high mountains, ancient history and a modern infrastructure, and the Pirin Mountain National Park is on UNESCO’s List of World Heritage Sites. Its diverse, newly renovated, wide tree-lined pistes, along with one of the most modern lift systems in Europe give you the widest variety of skiing for any age and level. All skiing is accessed via a 20 minute gondola ride – at the top climb above the tree-line to enjoy lovely snow conditions over 2500 metres. Beginners are well-cared for by the ULEN ski school, whilst intermediates have superb scope on the varied terrain. The Alberto Tomba black run and fun park will also keep more expert skiers and snowboarders well motivated. Bansko also offers some great childcare facilities: There is a 'non-skiing kindergarten', conveniently located near the bottom station of the Gondola lift.
